বাদল রাতে তুমি এলে
সবার অগোচরে
আমি ছিলুম বদ্ধ ঘরে
বাহিরে জল-ঝড়ে

সজল ঘন মেঘের রাশি
ঢেকেছিল চাঁদের হাসি
করেছিল মেশামেশি
মনের কালোয় চুপিসারে

জলে ভিজে এসেছিলে
ঘরের আগল খুলে' দিলে
আমায় তোমার করে' নিলে
বীণারই ঝঙ্কারে

You came on a night cloudy,
Unnoticed by everybody.
I was in a bolted dwelling,
Outside, the rain falling.

A bevy of clouds dense with water,
The moon's smile they had covered.
They had cultivated friendship
With the mind's ebony furtively.

Rain-soaked You had appeared;
My home's bolt You did unseal.
Yours You took and made me
With my veena's clattering.
